PART OF LEARNING IS UNLEARNING
“Half of wisdom is learning what to unlearn.”
– Larry Niven
When it comes to agenda messaging, unlearning and relearning is as important as learning! What do I mean by this? A lot of what we have been taught is wrong or even harmful to ourselves. As important as learning is, it is also important to unlearn all the messages they have pushed onto us that are not in our best interest.
Learning:
The process of acquiring new or modifying existing knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, or preferences.
Unlearning:
The process of letting go of old knowledge, beliefs, or habits in order to make room for new perspectives or overstandings. It involves recognizing that some of what we've learned may be incorrect, outdated, or no longer applicable, and consciously discarding or challenging those notions.
Relearning:
The process of learning something again, which was previously learned and then forgotten or discarded. This often happens after a period of unlearning, where one needs to acquire the correct or updated knowledge, behaviors, or skills.
