MEN USED TO BE ABLE TO BUILD A FULL HOUSE FROM A BOX

We used to employ the phrase "man up" as an expectation for men to toughen up, develop thicker skin, and handle their responsibilities. This stereotype once pervaded society, but times have changed, and the narrative surrounding masculinity has devolved. Somewhere along the line the message began to be pushed upon us that masculinity was toxic and women can do anything men can do. Sure women can, but do we want to? AND did we know that as women started doing more of the traditional male roles, less men would?

Masculinity is a superpower and should be preserved – we will cover gender and gender roles extensively in Volume: New Normal. Human No More but for now I want to touch on the loss of common skills that were once considered average capability of a man.

Do you know that back in the 1900s the Sears catalogue sold build-it-yourself houses? The ads read that a man of AVERAGE skill could put it together. How many men do you know who can even put IKEA together?

My point of this story is not to devalue men, my point is actually to put men who have retained the masculine skills up on a pedestal. For me, we need them, and they are almost an extinct breed.

The diminishing of skills of gender roles is occurring on both sides, obviously.

However, the loss of masculine skills and ability to keep one's home has directly affected the cost of living and aids in why homes and keeping them costs so much.

Putting down a patio used to be a Saturday activity for the man of a household with his friends and a case of beer. 

As a society, it is in our best interest to encourage men to keep the masculine skills that are required to keep a home. AND if you are a man with these skills, GOOD FOR YOU.
