THE FORGOTTEN CALENDAR
Our calendar is inaccurate and out of sync with all the natural cycles.
The modern calendar and time-keeping system were heavily influenced by the Church and historical power dynamics. As a result, the current system may not accurately reflect the natural cycles of the Earth and the universe. This discrepancy is evident in the need for adjustments like daylight savings and the differing lengths of months, which suggest the calendar is not as precise as we might think.
The widely accepted calendar used today is the Gregorian calendar, which was introduced in 1582 as a reform of the Julian calendar. The Gregorian calendar consists of twelve months with varying numbers of days, and it is a solar calendar based on the Earth's orbit around the sun.
Once upon a time, there were thirteen months in our calendar! Did you know that?
Why? Because it makes perfect sense and syncs us and our time with the earth and its natural cycles.
The moon goes around thirteen times in a year, creating thirteen months of twenty-eight days. The original calendar had thirteen months with twenty-eight days in each month and one day for Easter = three hundred and sixty-five days in a year.
If you are paying attention you may have already seen the hidden clues in the names of our months:
Sept for September means seven.
Oct for October means eight.
And, of course, December comes from decem-, meaning ten.
