What is the gold standard? The term "gold standard" refers to a monetary system where a country's currency or paper money has a value directly linked to gold. In this system, countries agree to convert paper money into a fixed amount of gold.

This standard played a critical role in the international monetary system until the twentieth century.

There is a new player in the world of money, and it is called BRICS. BRICS is a group of countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) that got together to start a new gold standard currency, which means their currency is backed by gold. For every dollar, there is an actual piece of gold retained to ensure its value.

It is likely you know the North American economy is in serious trouble. Canada is in the most debt out of any G7 country, and the USA almost went bankrupt last year to the point it was living month to month where it couldn't even afford to pay its own staff who run the country. Sure, they bailed themselves out by printing more money and devaluing your savings, but how many times can they do this before your money is worth nothing? Every time they print more money, the money you have is worth less.

With new world players coming onto the field that offer security to their currencies and guarantee value backed by gold, it won't be long until the dollar is no longer supreme.
