OVERTHINKING
Wait, you thought overthinking was bad? Think again! It’s time to start thinking.
I was thinking, why does society condition us to feel wrong to “overthink”? It's funny we are constantly told to relax, get rest, and create life balance. Think of all the quotes you see, “Don’t overthink.” Why are we discouraged to think? Have you ever heard anyone complain about underthinking? But, no – people throw around the label overthinker like it's the worst thing on earth. Have you ever wondered why thinking has become condemned?
Maybe because it would empower you, and if we all were empowered, the people would be unstoppable!
Understanding, Overstanding, Innerstanding
DON'T SAY: I understand.
Your mind is meant to grow and expand, and with that our comprehension of knowledge and wisdom should as well. There is a natural transition, almost like levels achieved, when one goes on a quest for knowledge. Overstand: The term overstand is often used to describe a state of comprehension that goes beyond conventional overstanding. It implies a higher level of awareness or insight, where one transcends the limitations of ordinary overstanding and gains a more comprehensive perspective. Overstanding involves grasping the interconnectedness of knowledge and seeing the deeper meaning behind it.
Understanding: Is to be standing UNDER something. When something does not make sense you are under it – you are not able to rise above it because it makes so no sense to you. Why do we say we overstood that to signify that we “got it” in the past tense but not the present tense? Overstanding is a word…it is in the dictionary. So WHY aren't we using it, as clearly it is the correct term to signify we have comprehended the information, knowledge or situation?
Overstanding: Overstand (transitive verb). To overstand is to comprehend a thing itself and to have knowledge of why it is the way it is and of its place or role in the grand scheme of things.
Innerstanding: Emphasizes personal, intuitive comprehension from within, focusing on insights gained through self-reflection and introspection. It represents a profound grasp of oneself, others, and the world, highlighting the significance of internal wisdom and self-awareness for deep innerstanding.
This progression from overstanding to overstanding and, finally, innerstanding represents a journey from knowledge acquisition to embodying wisdom, akin to evolving from external learning to internal realization. Through these stages, we decode the world's complexities, achieving profound insights into our existence.
Words are more than just words. The words we choose matter – be specific with your words.
We often use words because those are the words most frequently used, but take time to look at the words you use and the true meanings of them.
