CULTURE OF BLAME IN SOCIETY

Ever notice everyone seems to be blaming everyone these days for not being where they wanted to be in life or not having what they feel entitled to have? Feeling entitled to something and putting in the work to get it are two very different things. Ultimately, no one can stop you in life if you decide you are going to move forward. But because many are not moving forward, many find it easy to point the finger. For example, it’s the government’s fault they do not have a home because the government doesn't make enough affordable homes. It is Bob’s fault Sally didn't get a promotion because he is a male and she is a female. The list goes on. There’s always someone or something being highlighted on the news that is at fault for why the people are suffering, disadvantaged, or not getting ahead.

Now, all of these issues have always been at hand but have you noticed the shift of public blaming and shaming ramp up over the recent years as we entered the era of “political correctness”?

What is meant by the term politically correct? “If you say that someone is politically correct, you mean that they are extremely careful not to offend or upset any group of people.” – Collins Dictionary

It is to walk on eggshells not to hurt other people’s feelings and to adhere to what is considered normal and acceptable behavior at this point in time (as decided upon by the system – not the people). Ever notice how something can be okay one day and, suddenly, it’s “HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT?”
