We don't always accurately “see” people, things, or events. Instead, we assign meaning to them based on our past experiences and beliefs. Our thoughts shape our reality, and often, we project illusions onto the world around us. By overstanding this, we can begin to take control of our emotions and free ourselves from the weight of unresolved feelings and unprocessed energy.

The Illusion of Memory

Everything you see holds meaning based on your personal history with it. However, when you dwell on the past, you’re not engaging with reality—you’re engaging with a memory, a phantom of what once was. These memories carry emotional weight, which can hold you back from fully living in the present.

  • Emotions are energy in motion.
    When we don't process emotions, they become stored in the body, leading to tension, anxiety, and even physical symptoms.

How Stored Emotions Hold Us Back

Events themselves don’t get trapped in the body, but the emotions from those events do. These emotions linger as energetic vibrations, waiting to rise for processing. If left unaddressed, they create patterns that affect our behavior and decision-making.

For example:

  • Unprocessed anger becomes reactive behavior.
  • Anxiety manifests as a constant state of unease.
  • Unresolved guilt weighs you down, even in unrelated situations.

Respond vs. React: Understanding Triggers

To truly live in alignment, you need to learn to respond rather than react. This requires identifying and overstanding the emotions that surface when you're triggered.

Common Triggers:

  1. Anger:
    Anger is a signal that something is misaligned. It is a message from your energetic body telling you to pause and evaluate the situation.
    • Action Tip: Pause and ask, “What is this anger trying to teach me?”
  2. Anxiety and Stress:
    Anxiety often results from open loops—tasks or situations unresolved in your life. Stress fills the energetic space in your body, leaving no room for grace or flow.
    • Action Tip: Identify your anxiety patterns (morning or night?) and track their source.

The Weight of Open Loops

An open loop is anything you’ve committed to doing—whether verbally or mentally—that remains unfinished. These loops act as energetic cords, draining your mental and emotional energy.

Exercise: Close Your Loops

  1. Make a list of small tasks you’ve been putting off (e.g., replying to an email, fixing a broken button).
  2. Spend one day tackling as many of these small loops as possible.
  3. Notice how much lighter you feel with each one crossed off.

Small actions create big shifts. By clearing these small cords, you regain the energy to address larger challenges with clarity and focus.

Releasing Pressure and Creating Space

When you feel overwhelmed, remember: much of the pressure comes from yourself. You’re holding yourself prisoner to societal expectations, past mistakes, or imagined obligations.

Ask Yourself:

  • What am I energetically ready to release?
  • What burdens can I unload?
  • What would my life look like if I created more space?

Affirmations to Release Pressure:

  • “I can handle this.”
  • “I always find a solution.”
  • “I create space for ease and flow.”

Visualize Your Emotional Desk

Imagine all your unresolved tasks and emotions sitting on a desk in front of you as folders.

  • Is the desk neat and organized? Or is it cluttered and chaotic?
  • Begin "filing away" each folder by taking small actions to resolve the open loops they represent.

Action Breeds Freedom

You cannot think your way out of emotional clutter—you must act. Whether it’s confronting a fear, completing a task, or allowing yourself to process a feeling, action is the only way to cut the cords that tether you to the past.
