How To Get Through It

Breathe

Sit with yourself and breathe through your thoughts and emotions. When difficult memories arise, close your eyes and breathe instead of shoving them back down. Say, “I know this is coming up for me, so I can let it go.” Keep breathing and repeat this as often as you need to, either out loud or in your head.

Time Alone

Spending time alone is powerful when experiencing significant change and transformation in life. It allows emotions to come up and help you release them; emotions must come up to come out. For anything to be processed, it must rise. The trick is not to stuff it back down but to look it right in the face and process it. Once the mind can wrap itself around the why, it can process whatever is stored. Often, the unknown or lack of closure keeps the emotions from finally leaving once and for all.
