Louise Hay
Louise Hay is the founder of Hay House Publishing. If you are reading School of Soul, you probably know who she is, but if you don't, let me tell you about this legend.
Louise had a tough life; to say she had her trials begin early is and understatement. We all go through trauma, and the younger people experience it, the harder it is to get going in life. Louise was sexually abused as a child, so she grew up believing she was not worth anything. She was neglected and honestly left to fend for herself. It's an incredibly sad beginning for a woman who was here to do great work for the world. It’s horrible to say that life lessons turn us into who we are meant to be. Even in the most horriļ¬c situations, that can be true. As you will see, her desire to change the story in her mind about her upbringing would put her in perfect alignment to not only win her game but help millions win theirs.
Louise Hay lived much of her adult years hating, resenting, and blaming herself for all the wrong she had endured. Then, one day, she heard someone say, “If you are willing to change your thinking, you are willing to change your life.”
At ļ¬rst, she didn’t even believe it, but then she tried, experimented, and learned. And before you know it, she became the queen of healing one's life with spoken work by developing mirror talk, bringing mainstream aļ¬rmations, and teaching the world that we can change our lives with our words. She taught the world that we were creating our exterior world with the words we tell ourselves. Her teachings taught us to examine our thoughts and how to change them. Her new life began from one thought, from hearing one thing; changing your thinking will change your life.
She shifted her entire being into a force that would go on to create Hay House Publishing and publish our generation's most inļ¬uencing self-help and personal development books. Not only did she become an author, but we have her to thank for bringing many international bestselling authors in the personal development ļ¬eld to the world. Her decision to go forward, no matter what her current situation, put her in a destination to change her life and millions.
The small company she started in her living room was a publishing empire worth over $100 million dollars. The best part? Louise started Hay House at 62 years old! Clearly, that was her divine design all along. She simply had to decide to start showing up, and look what happened!
J.K Rowling
Let's look at another well-known author I think everyone will know. I love this story of dedication and refusal to submit to rejection. Unlike Louise, who simply got in alignment with who she was always meant to be and started doing her part, J.K. Rowling knew where she wanted to go. And no one was going to stop her.
She knew her current situation was not going to be her ļ¬nal destination. She is one of the most successful authors of all time, but her story did not start that way. Her outstanding successes in turning her creative art into stories to inspire millions have earned her a net worth of $1 billion, making her the 196th richest person in the world as of 2022. Remember when I said to look at your goals and ask yourself, is this worth doing?
Her entire series of Harry Potter has all her life lessons written into it. J.K. Rowling's story also starts with a diļ¬cult childhood. Her parents named her Joanne, but they were expecting a boy, so they dressed and treated her like one. They only dressed her in blue, even though they would later have another daughter, her younger sister Dianne, who they chose to treat as a girl and dress in pink. Never feeling accepted by her family, she turned to and fell in love with reading. Her pain drove her toward her passion.
Her diļ¬cult upbringing aļ¬ected her so much that she threw herself into what she loved and began writing stories at six!
Eventually, she turned what was happening to her into a new story. As an adult, her childhood pains are laced through the story of Harry Potter. Harry Potter has the hair he does because of how her parents used to cut hers to make her look like a boy.
All the characters in her books are reworked personalities from her life growing up as a child. She even incorporated her traumas from her adult life into the later books, speciļ¬cally her divorce date. Her life didn't exactly get simple after her childhood; she became a single mother after leaving an abusive husband, sending her into the deepest depression of her life.
She describes modeling all the demons in her books after the feelings she experienced during that time. She knows how to turn her lessons into blessings. You can see it by looking deeper into the meaning behind her writing.
What we believe to be setbacks are often setups for the greatest destinations of our games.
The Jar Of Flies
Have you ever seen the jar of ļ¬ies experiment? It’s wild! It is a real world example of the dangers of the belief system concept using the example of a jar of ļ¬ies.
Picture a group of ļ¬ies trapped inside a jar. They know they are trapped. But then the lid is taken oļ¬, and the ļ¬ies do not attempt to escape! Why? Because they gave up. They decided it didn’t work before so it won’t work next time, thereby creating a limiting belief that they are trapped for good. Yet the lid is oļ¬.
Your life is the same. You have limiting beliefs that are holding you back, even though the lid was taken oļ¬ years ago.
Our belief system runs deep and can be diļ¬cult to locate. It is shaped by our upbringing, experiences, and society's expectations. Often, we follow the blueprint that our parents or society has laid out for us, even if it doesn't make sense for our purpose or passions. It's essential to realize that we have the power to change our belief system and pursue our dreams. It's okay to take risks and make mistakes. It's better to try and fail than never to try at all, but fail until you succeed and then ļ¬y out of the jar.
We can change our mindset and adopt new beliefs that align with our goals and aspirations. By doing so, we can break free from the limitations that our old beliefs put on us and live a fulļ¬lling life.
