Welcome back to Soul Renovation! I'm Adeline Atlas, the author of the School of Soul series, an eight-time published author, master manifestor, and your cheerleader bestie on the internet. Today, we’re talking about why it’s not our job to deal out karma. The universe has a way of balancing things on its own. Instead of fixating on what others deserve, our energy is better spent on our own growth and healing. Let’s dive in.

Karma isn’t just a form of cosmic punishment—it’s a system of balance. It’s the energy we put out into the world that eventually finds its way back to us. Some people think of karma as revenge or payback, but that’s a limited view. Karma isn’t about vengeance. It’s about accountability.

When we experience wrongs or injustices, our instinct is often to make things right ourselves. But when we try to take on the role of karma, we disrupt our own peace. We waste energy that could be spent building a better life. The universe works on its own timing, and just because you don’t see immediate results doesn’t mean the energy isn’t shifting.

Why It's Not Our Job to Deal Out Karma

The urge to make someone pay comes from a place of hurt, anger, and betrayal. Those emotions are valid, but acting on them only traps you in negativity. When we take justice into our own hands, we prolong the cycle of pain instead of healing from it.

Trying to control karma means we don’t trust the universe to handle things. It means we believe the only way for justice to be served is if we serve it ourselves. But karma is bigger than us. It moves in ways we can’t always see, often teaching lessons in ways we could never orchestrate.

By trying to play karma, we keep the wound fresh. Instead of focusing on moving forward, we stay stuck in the past, waiting for a moment of revenge that may never come—or, if it does, may not bring the satisfaction we expected.

The Dangers of Seeking Revenge

  • It’s an Emotional Drain: The energy you spend plotting or dwelling on revenge keeps you in a cycle of pain.
  • It Creates More Negativity: Retaliation leads to escalation, keeping you entangled in toxic energy.
  • It Damages Relationships: Seeking revenge often hurts innocent people in the process.
  • It Stunts Your Growth: Instead of building a better future, you remain attached to the past.
  • It Can Have Serious Consequences: Legal, moral, and spiritual consequences often follow actions taken out of anger.

Choosing a Higher Path

Instead of seeking revenge, redirect your energy into healing. You don’t have to condone what was done to you, but you do have to free yourself from the grip of resentment. The best way to win against those who hurt you is to thrive. Here’s how:

  • Practice Forgiveness: Not for them, but for you. Let go of the resentment so you can move forward.
  • Focus on Growth: Instead of getting back at them, get better. Use the experience as a lesson.
  • Spread Positivity: Break the cycle by refusing to put more negativity into the world.
  • Surround Yourself with Support: Healing is easier when you’re surrounded by people who uplift you.
  • Prioritize Self-Care: Journaling, meditation, and exercise help release anger and replace it with clarity.

Exercise: Shifting Focus from Revenge to Growth

  • Write down past situations where you felt wronged.
  • Identify the emotions tied to them. How did they affect you?
  • Choose forgiveness. Write a statement releasing the energy of resentment.
  • Set new personal goals. Focus on what you want to build in your life.
  • Celebrate progress. Every time you choose growth over revenge, acknowledge it.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to punish people. Life does that for you. Everyone eventually faces the consequences of their actions, whether you see it or not. Instead of waiting for someone to get what they deserve, focus on your journey. The best revenge is becoming so focused on your success that you forget they ever mattered.
