Scarcity Mindset
What is a scarcity mindset? A scarcity mindset focuses on lack and perceives there is not enough to go around. If you are always worrying about money or any resource in your Game, you are exhibiting a scarcity mindset. When you focus on lack, you attract more lack—no matter the area of focus. Having a scarcity mindset often causes tunnel vision: you focus on what is not there. It traps you in a cycle of not having something because you are worrying about not having it. The only way to snap out of this cycle is to shift to an abundance mindset.
“Having a scarcity mentality can lower your IQ by as many as 14 points. It might not seem like much, but it’s enough to move your score from average to outstanding and vice versa. If you have an average IQ, losing 13 or 14 points can make it fall into the deficient category.”—WebMD
REFRAME:
- I need to make money.
- You don’t need to make money.
- It's exciting to make money.
- There is money everywhere—it's not scary.
Grant Cardone once said to think of money as being everywhere! His analogy was—if you look out anywhere, all you see is money. Say you are at the grocery store and you look around, there are people paying, items being sold, money trading hands. Look outside at the parking lot—every car is worth how much? Money is literally all around you, it's just how you get it to you or you to it, but there is no lack of money.
