Granting Yourself Permission to Pursue and Celebrate
The Power of Self-Permission
Often, you wait for external validation or approval before pursuing your dreams. However, the most powerful permission comes from within. Giving yourself permission means acknowledging your worth, believing in your abilities, and taking proactive steps toward your goals.
Here’s why self-permission is vital:
Empowerment: Self-permission empowers you to take control of your life and decisions, fostering a sense of autonomy and confidence. When you grant yourself the authority to pursue your dreams, you no longer rely on others to validate your choices. This internal empowerment allows you to navigate your path with self-assurance and resilience.
Motivation: Self-permission fuels motivation by affirming your right to pursue your passions and aspirations. This intrinsic motivation is more sustainable and powerful than external encouragement because it stems from a deep-seated belief in your potential and purpose.
Liberation: Granting yourself permission liberates you from the constraints of others’ expectations and societal norms, allowing you to follow your unique path. This liberation enables you to pursue what genuinely resonates with you, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.
Wanting more doesn't make you ungrateful or greedy; it makes you ambitious. Embracing the desire for more is a powerful force that can drive you to become the ultimate version of yourself, achieve things others think are impossible, and reach heights that most can only imagine in their dreams. Ambition is one of the sexiest habits to have in life, and if you have it, don't you ever crank it down. Do you know that not everyone has ambition? Yes, most people are walking around with no ambition for anything, doing the bare minimum in life, never seeing what they are made of, what they could accomplish, or who they could become. So no wonder when they see someone with ambition, they say things like “don't work so hard,” “find balance,” or “how unattractive for a woman to have ambition.”
Ambition, often misunderstood as greed, is about setting goals, aspiring for greatness, and striving to improve oneself and one's circumstances. Greed, by contrast, involves an excessive desire for material wealth or power at the expense of others.
Building a legacy life, going for it all in life, and becoming a legend is not about the money. I will say this over and over again in this course: the money will be an automatic byproduct of smart and hard work paired with the dedication of creating a life of intent—you never need to chase the money. Becoming a legend and leaving a legacy is about who you become; it is about seeing what you are made of. It doesn’t matter if your dream is to build a company and take it to the Fortune 500 list or if your dream is to have four kids and raise them as an all-star mom who can turn around when your children all get into Harvard and say, “Yeah, I raised them, I built those kids.” You become a legend when you become legendary, but to become legendary, you must BECOME. You become in life by DOING, by building, creating, growing, and expanding.
Recognizing this distinction is crucial for embracing your ambitions without feeling guilty.
Ambition is a driving force that propels you forward, motivating you to achieve great heights every time.
It pushes you out of your comfort zone, forcing you to learn new skills and expand.
The misconception of greed often discourages people from pursuing their dreams, but wanting more means appreciating what you have while recognizing your potential for more.
In my journey, I’ve often grappled with the fear of being seen as greedy for wanting more. I had a hungry spirit from the day I was born. I always wanted more. I wanted to know more, do more, and be more. I always wanted to be the best and do better, no matter what arena I was in or if it had to do with my personal or professional life. And that hasn't changed. I have changed and realigned my life, but I am still as hungry as ever—I am just growing in a new direction.
However, embracing my desires and setting clear goals led to success in various aspects of my life. Writing my first book was an all-star win and solidified the change of trajectory of my entire life. It threw me completely out of my comfort zone and onto a field I knew nothing about, not to mention starting with none of the skills needed and having to learn them on the field like a training camp. Who knew I could write a book! I didn't, not until I did. See, that is how it works. You don’t even know what you are capable of if you don’t go for more. When you decide to go for more you will be shocked at what you can achieve.
Wanting more doesn’t make you ungrateful; it makes you ambitious, a testament to your belief in your potential and readiness to make a positive impact on the world. Ambition does not need to go to your head, although it can as you start to stack your wins—remember to be ambitious but grounded. Why don’t I say humble? Because you should never be humble in life. To be humble is to downplay your greatness to make others feel better who have not achieved greatness or personal success; that is not your problem. Stay polite, stay grounded as you grow and achieve more in life, but you never need to be humble and downplay anything. You can be great and still stay “real.”
Ambition is not just about wanting more; it's about recognizing the potential within your character and using that desire to move forward in the Game of Life. Every step toward your goals, every challenge you face, and every time you push past your comfort zone, you are advancing your character to new levels. Your ambition is the engine that drives you to explore new territories, learn new skills, and unlock new achievements. As you embrace your ambition, remember it is the force that keeps your character moving forward, constantly evolving, and striving for greatness.
