Be Extra to Be Extraordinary

“If you put extra on top of ordinary, you get extraordinary.”
You have to be extra to be extraordinary in life.

To be extraordinary in life, you have to be willing to go beyond the ordinary. This starts with gaining control of your mind, which is the computer that drives your character in the Game of Life. Your body is the character you operate, but it is not who you are. You are your soul, residing within your body. Think of your body as a piece of equipment and your mind as the computer that runs it. You, as the soul, are the operator of this computer. Just like a computer cannot function efficiently with too many tabs open or when it overheats, your character does not feel good about itself when it’s not functioning well. Feeling good begins with the most basic foundational elements: adequate sleep, hydration, nutrition, rest, stress relief, and regular maintenance.

You are not going to get where you want to be in life if you do not take care of your character. Taking care of your character starts with getting it under control. It starts with you teaching and retraining yourself to overstand that your body is your piece of equipment, and it is your job as its operator to keep it maintained. Without maintenance, it's not going to last.

When looking at life as a Game, reframe yourself as a character. Your character is you. You are your character. Your character is you in your physical and energetic body. You are moving across your Gameboard. Your character is playing specific roles and using certain resources. Your character is the one acting in your Game.
The idea of “character” is a way of looking at yourself in your Game while looking beyond yourself to see something bigger. You are in your Game and outside of it all. Looking at yourself in this way provides you with a greater perspective while playing the Game of Life.

Essentially, you are on two journeys—your soul’s journey and your character’s physical journey. The idea of the hero’s journey is written about in many books. It’s what you’re talking about here. Your character sets out on a journey with a physical goal and a finish line, something that represents your journey’s completion. You must aim for outrageously large physical goals when building your vision. The goals you set are the surface level of what is actually happening to your character. Your journey toward these goals requires you to become a larger-than-life version of yourself. Your journey then offers you a transformational experience like none other. You are self-actualizing and growing into your fullest potential.

Your physical journey initiates your soul journey and helps you connect with your soul’s purpose. You take the first step in the physical world. It’s always on you to take the first step. You set your vision and declare your goals, your targets, your mission. You strengthen your character. You call upon your resources. You develop your strategies. You do the work. The Universe then steps up to match your efforts and align opportunities for your character. You’ll continue to navigate in the physical world while your spiritual evolution happens. Your physical character goes through an experience parallel to that of your soul. Having your character chase physical goals helps you realize your spiritual goals. You are playing a spiritual Game on a physical field.

The physical rewards at the finish line are often not as rewarding as you might expect. This is because it was your soul that called you to that road. When you are fulfilling your soul’s purpose, the real reward is never anything that’s available in the physical world. The journey rewards you with who you’re meant to become. Your true win is who the journey turns you into. Your character’s end rewards are going to be enjoyable, but who you become is the real prize. Becoming is your ultimate Game.
