Social Media
In your adult life, gamification is being used against you daily through most social media platforms. These platforms are designed around gamification. Instagram, for example, is designed to replicate a slot machine’s Game theory and ignite your dopamine center. Dopamine is the neurotransmitter of inspiration. Instagram ignites your dopamine center by conditioning you to crave the dopamine hit you get every time you swipe. You think, “the next swipe might be the good one.” You keep swiping and chasing dopamine hits. You thought you were just looking at your phone, didn’t you? But look at what happens. You look at Instagram and, BAM, an hour passes before you look up. This is not by accident; Instagram AND all social media platforms are specifically built just like games to hack this natural human intent to “want to play more.”
Game theory is being run on you everywhere.
It’s no different from how all games need spectators and players. The system is purposely turning people into spectators instead of participants.
Social media platforms use an attention-based model built off Game theory. By being turned into a spectator on social media you are no longer a participant in your life. Everything you need to know and take into consideration about Social Media is found in Volume 4: Digital Soul of the School of Soul book series, but for now know that it not only runs Game on you but affects your Game.
