Vegas Shooting
Although it might be very triggering, I am going to tell you a story about how a tragic event taught me the value of time. I am not going to sugarcoat it for you. I never realized the true value of time until a few years ago. I was in a shooting at a concert in Las Vegas. It was a horrific terrorist attack. You may have heard about it on the news at the time. Many, many people died.
That day redefined how I view time, spend time, value time, appreciate time, and use time. My best estimation of how long the shooting lasted was about six minutes. It felt like a lifetime as people fell around me. It also happened at lightning speed. Each second carried a heavy weight. Although time flew by so quickly, every single second felt heavy in my soul. I could literally feel every single second.
You have probably heard that life flashes before your eyes when you face death or life-threatening situations. This didn’t happen to me. My experience was different. When I got up to run between gunshot rounds, the man in front of me was shot. His arms flew up like an angel. He then hit the ground. I don’t know where I went physically. I wasn't present anymore. I just know that, in that instant, a movie began playing in my mind’s eye. It wasn't a movie showing the life I’d lived.
The Universe played a movie for me of all my vision board goals I had not completed. The movie was clearer than I could ever put into words. It showed me the opening of my real estate office, which was being built and not completed, and hundreds of pictures from my vision board. It played into my future life. The Universe served me what it knew I needed to see. I am an Aries, made of fire. My goals light me up and fuel my fire. The Universe showed me what it knew would keep me from giving up. The Universe egged me on, trying to get me fueled up. Looking back, this was the best move the Universe could have made for me. It hit all my desire points.
When the movie played, all I thought about was how much I would give for more time. Once it was over, I was fortunate. I was able to get back up and live. The thought of time and making the most of this resource was what stayed with me. I will never forget it. I never want you to have to learn the value of time the hard way, feeling the weight of those seconds the way I did that day. The great thing about life lessons is they are shareable. I am telling you this story today to help you appreciate the value of your minutes.
I hope you're beginning to see time in a new light. Remember, every second is a gift, every moment an opportunity. Your time is yours to allocate, to spend, and to invest in ways that truly matter to you. Don’t wait for a wake-up call like I had to realize its value. Start today by cherishing every moment and using it to its fullest potential. Let this new perspective on time propel you forward with urgency, intention, and clarity as you move toward your dreams and goals.
