Knowing Your Hand: Playing the Hand You’re Dealt

If life was a Game, what cards do you hold? What winning cards do you hold? How many do you hold? Are you missing any cards you need? What does your current Gameboard look like? What pieces are on the board? What pieces do you need to acquire? What pieces need to be moved or removed from the board? What card could you play next?

Playing the Hand You’re Dealt

The Reality of Life’s Cards: life is unpredictable, and we all face different challenges and circumstances. The "cards" you’re dealt can include your background, opportunities, setbacks, and even the people you encounter. These elements shape your experiences but do not define your potential for success and happiness. It's essential to overstand that while you cannot control the cards you’re dealt, you have full control over how you lay them.

Your Unique Hand

First, you must acknowledge Your Cards. The first step is to acknowledge and accept the circumstances you’ve been given. This acceptance is not about resignation but about overstanding your starting point. It involves recognizing both your advantages and limitations. Acceptance allows you to assess your situation realistically and formulate a plan that takes into account your unique context. No book or course can give winning advice to the general population because none of you are dealt the same hand of cards. You must first know what cards you hold in your hand and equally what cards you are “missing.” What are your current advantages and disadvantages? You will need to know this information when you get to the section on strategy, for you are going to build YOUR strategy to match YOUR hand of cards to play them to win and get you to the finish line of YOUR dreams.

Know there are no bad cards. Every card has potential, even if it appears at face value to be a disadvantage.

Your background, challenges, and unique experiences can all be leveraged to your advantage. It’s about shifting your perspective to see opportunities where others see obstacles. Adopting this mindset can transform perceived weaknesses into strengths, providing a competitive edge. But you cannot look for the silver lining in your perceived bad cards if you do not take a close look at the hand you hold and the cards you have to play. You must know your cards inside and out and then look at them from all perspectives.

Harnessing Strengths and Weaknesses:
Overstand your strengths and how they can help you play your hand effectively. Also, be aware of your weaknesses and find ways to mitigate them. This balanced view enables you to strategize and make informed decisions. Knowing yourself deeply helps in making choices that align with your strengths and compensates for any shortcomings or hacks your shortcomings to become advantageous in your Game.
