Location as a Strategy
Environment of where you live can matter—depending on what your purpose is. For certain goals and soul purposes it will be necessary to be around other people. I love the example in The Science of Getting Rich where Wallace Wattles makes the reference that local matters—depending on what you want to do, you may need people—if you want to see ice cream, you may not go to Alaska. When choosing where to live you may want to make a choice to match your strategy. It is possible to play a Game almost anywhere for any goal now with the internet and the entire world as a possible customer and it could be easier to achieve certain purposes by being near others to assist you—these are decisions to be made. Decision that you will make after you have your plan.
While I have been using the word consideration, you should approach the act of refining your location as a strategy. It ties back to making the journey easier on your character. If you know your goal and you want to make it easier on your character to reach it, you want to pick your locations accordingly.
When you have a life plan and you know where you want to end up on your Gameboard, you can begin to reverse engineer all aspects of your Game to get you there including, when possible, your location. Location decisions are a long-term strategy.
What is required from your location will be determined by what you value and where you are going in life.
If you love hiking, are you near the mountains?
- If you love to cook, are you near many great ingredient shops?
- If you are selling real estate, is there real estate to be sold?
- If your goal is to be fit and you love working out in classes, not nature—do you have access to that?
This is probably the first time you’ve been taught to look at your life in these terms, to look at all the moving pieces you control. Now that you see it this way, you can start to see all the ways you can move your resources, and your character, around to get yourself to your goals.
