Spells as Portals

Spells can be thought of as portals, defined as gateways that transport you from one place to another. This concept can be clearly observed in the legal system. When you say the right words in a court of law, it can determine your fate—setting you free or binding you. Words act like magical portals that can transport you to different outcomes. For instance, the right legal argument can open a portal to freedom, while the wrong one can lead to incarceration (incarceration and incantation sure look like a word family to me, almost like the positive and negative of using words to create or to convict a person). This is similar to how spells in magical traditions are believed to open portals to other realms or realities. In both cases, the specific words used are crucial, as they hold the power to alter your current state and take you somewhere new. Just like a physical portal that provides passage from one place to another, the words you choose can guide you from one situation or reality to another.
