You are What You’re Attracting
We’ve all heard it before: "Like attracts like." But let me break it down for you in a way that hits home. If you want better, make yourself better. Think you deserve more? Upgrade yourself. The Universe doesn’t hand you things you’re not ready to receive; it aligns with who you are being. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being intentional.
But I get it—it’s not easy to just wake up one morning and declare, "This is who I am now," and believe it wholeheartedly. Change can feel impossible when you’re carrying the weight of your old self on your back. That’s why I like to start by asking a different question: "Who don’t I want to be anymore?"
Let me tell you, as someone who has dedicated their life to transformation, nothing sparks change faster than knowing exactly what you’re done with. You know that version of yourself who settles, procrastinates, self-sabotages, or carries the weight of other people’s judgments? Yeah, you’re saying goodbye to that version today. Because once you know what you’re not willing to tolerate from yourself anymore, the opposite becomes crystal clear.
Ok, now I overstand it's not that easy to right off the bat say, "HEY, THIS IS WHO I WANT TO BE NOW." So to make it easy, you will first look at who you don't want to be anymore! Trust me, as a human who has dedicated their life to change, the quickest way to change is to first look at who you never want to be ever again—because who you want to be is the opposite of that starting point! Because the mind automatically focuses on the negative, it is easier for the mind to spit out all it does not like about ourselves than it is about what it does like. Isn’t that sad? It is, AND you will harness this to your advantage in order to get a list out of ALL you do not like about yourself. From there, you will reverse it and find the opposite in order to see which direction you want to get heading! Let’s take a deep dive into who you currently are and who you never want to be again! Forget about who you do want to be for a moment—let’s get hyper-focused on what you don’t like about yourself. Print off the downloadable template and let’s begin!
This exercise is to prepare to create affirmations and a new life story. From learning what you do not want for yourself and character—it will become clear what you do want. Show yourself where you could be—who you could be. Looking at both lives, which do you choose? When it comes time to change your character, it can be really easy to get caught up on what you want to leave your life—maybe it’s a certain habit or maybe it is a limiting belief you want to eliminate. Either way, you won’t have any luck if you keep focusing on what you don’t want. The purpose of this exercise is for you to identify what is not working in order to reverse it and locate the opposite, which would be considered a success. Once you learn what the better move is—you will focus on that—not on what you want to eliminate. Remember, all of these exercises are designed to hack the brain to make change easier. There is a reason you do things in the order you do them. Instead of trying to eliminate the old character, you will simply push it out with the new character—you will add in so much good and so many good new habits that there simply will not be room for that old version of yourself. You are going to feed all of your energy into who you are becoming and not who you once were.
Example of my Old Self List: Let go of the past self. You had to kill a version of yourself to become who you are today. You had to end a version of yourself to be who you are today. You knew you couldn't think like your poor self. You couldn't do things the way that your past self did even though you're so thankful and grateful for every experience that your poor self experienced. You're so thankful and grateful and will ever extend positivity to your past self. You had to kill that version. You had to cut the cords with a past version of yourself. You had to cut the cords for those of you who are in the transitional phase of transcending or ascending to the next level, to the next phase. Cut the cord with the version that you want to kill off about yourself. If there's a version of you that overeats, see that version of you in front of you and cut the cord with them. If there's a version of you who procrastinates, see them and cut the cord with them. You don't have to feel bad, okay? You don't have to feel bad because you're doing it for you. The light shines out the dark until it is bright and the dark cannot exist. The most difficult time is the in-between.
Sometimes you don’t know what you desire, even though WE KNOW you desire change. You do know deep down, even if you can’t bring it to the tip of your tongue. Here is a way to bring out what you subconsciously already know is your highest desire or ideal for YOU and who you want to be. It is often easier to recall the negativity—this is proven science. For some reason, the mind loves to add more value to the negative than the positive, which is why affirmations are so important in repetition. The dominant thought wins, meaning you need to program yourself only one time more with the positive than the negative for it to become the dominant, winning thought. For example, if the negative thought is repeated eighty-nine times in your life, stored in your mind, and marked on your DNA, you ONLY need to repeat the positive counteractive ninety times—only one more time to force the repositioning of the dominant thought. Now, because the mind loves to remember the negative so easily, let’s use that to your advantage with this exercise as you try to bring forth and up and out of you what your highest ideal self is. When you can’t think of what you desire, it is easy to know what you DO NOT DESIRE. It is equally easy to know who you do not want to be any longer—so let’s use that as your kick-off point.
