What You Sing, You Summon
Songs are affirmations in disguise. Repeating lyrics embeds their energy into your vibration. Many popular songs carry messages that, when examined closely, may not reflect the life you wish to create.
I listen mostly to classical music now, but it was not always that way. I loved country, even a little rap when I was younger. But one day, I heard what I was singing and couldn’t believe it. I would listen to songs with great beats. They sounded happy and uplifting at first glance. But once Spotify added the feature that showed the lyrics as the songs played, I was shocked at what I had been repeating over and over.
Most of the songs I listened to with a happy, upbeat vibe actually had depressing lyrics or statements of things I would never want to call into my life. Many of my ‘happy’ country songs were actually sad love songs filled with longing and broken hearts. I also noticed that many pop songs I listened to had a great set of lyrics for the main chorus that was repeated, but the rest of the lyrics actually said the exact opposite of what the song seemed to be ‘promoting.’
Try it—turn the lyrics on when you listen to Spotify and, as you read them, ask yourself: Is this something I want to affirm, come into agreement with, or summon into my life?
What you sing, you summon. Imagine affirming toxic or harmful messages hundreds of times through repetition. It’s no wonder these affirmations begin to materialize in your life.
