Nourishing Your Digital Soul?
Okay, now what? You have a clean slate! How can you nourish your soul and stay aligned and not distracted while working with technology? Incorporate your experiences with reminders of your goals.
Creating Passwords with Soul
I treat my internet passwords as modern-day affirmations. That way, every time I go to log in, I am reminding myself of what I’m working for. Nowadays, every account you sign up for seems to have a different set of password criteria. But the standard seems to be eight characters, at least one uppercase letter, and, of course, numbers. Now, most people go with the typical birthdays, family names, and, of course, your animal names. You type your passwords probably dozens of times each day, especially while you are working. Why not use this time to connect with your goals over and over again, reinforcing the law of attraction? Think of all your goals, your bucket list for the year. The milestones you want to reach, the things you want to buy, the money you want to earn. Whatever it is that drives and motivates you to do more. Create your passwords with letters and numbers – that way, every time you log in, you are subtly reminding yourself of what you are working for.
When setting passwords, use the “RESPECT” model that you see me using as the outline for my Vision Board:
R: Relationships and Romance
E: Eating Healthy and Exercise
S: Self-Expression and Spiritually
P: Purpose and Passion
E: Education and Experiences
C: Career and Contribution
T: Time Travel and Things
Now use your goals to create your passwords. Create different passwords and goal triggers for all personal accounts and work accounts.
Example: 52Bsplit5m
52 Books Splits 5 Million
Create goals to cover all areas in the RESPECT Model, then take the first letter or an abbreviation of the goal and put them all together to create a password that covers everything you vision for your future self. Or, if you have one major goal you are aiming at, you can craft your password around it to remind yourself of it every time you type your password in a day.
What to Create?
Whatever you feel called to create – simply creating over-consumption is all the guidance I will offer – your creation is your creation! For your creation to come out, simply pause the consuming and see what comes out of you!
Questions:
What are you most passionate about? What truly makes you you?
What lights your soul on fire and puts a smile on your face?
Closing Considerations: Change the Approach
Consider keeping Social Media off your phone: The reason why Instagram is so dangerous is because it is instant – it removes the barrier of thought and consideration. It creates a compulsive and impulsive behavior pattern. Take your control back by using technology as a tool you use, not a tool that uses you. How do you do this? Use Social Media with intent. I do not keep Instagram on my phone. I only use a browser version on my desktop computer, and I post my posts and stories using a scheduler called Planoly.
