FORTY-SIX
AUTHENTICITY VERSUS
FABRICATED REALITIES

To fully explore the concept of authenticity versus fabricated realities, especially in the context of Social Media, let us start by defining these terms and overstanding their differences.
Authenticity: Authenticity in the digital context refers to experiences and expressions that genuinely reflect an individual's true self, thoughts, and feelings. It is about being real and honest in your interactions, not masking your true identity or feelings to conform to societal norms or expectations. Authentic experiences are characterized by a sense of genuineness, originality, and sincerity.

Fabricated Realities: On the other hand, fabricated realities on Social Media are often idealized portrayals that do not accurately represent one's true life. These are carefully curated images and narratives designed to project a more appealing, successful, or happier image than what might be true. These realities are typically constructed to gain approval, likes, followers, or to fit into a certain desirable image.
The key difference between the two lies in their alignment with truth and sincerity. Authenticity is about being true to oneself, while fabricated realities are about creating an illusion that often aligns with perceived social desirability rather than truth.
