THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK
YOU ARE BEING BOXED
Every like and comment are a YES to the algorithm – one more piece of data that is used to locate the exact box you belong in. Yes, we are all categorized into boxes based on our online behavior. The more data it is fed the more it begins its categorization and labeling.
Why You Need To Think Before You Click:
- It is a vote into a box or label.
- You can never take it back.
I know, it is crazy. But remember the business model for Social Media is attention based, and thus the sooner the system can niche down and categorize us, the more valuable our profiles are to the highest advertising bidder. For this reason, we can consciously choose and like and comment with intent. If yes, truly we want to see more of that and become aligned with more content like the piece we are interacting with – like away! But if you are liking out of obligation or boredom, know that these likes, comments, or really any interaction are being tracked (they even track what we hover over, and how long we hover to read what's on the screen if we stop scrolling; we do not actually have to even like it). We can't ever take it back or delete it. There is no true delete – someone somewhere owns every keystroke we make. Deleting something is simply an illusion in the sense that it is not gone – we are simply energetically decoding. And know that everything we have entered lives somewhere… where? No idea.
