INTRODUCTION

Throughout the School of Soul Series we’ve explored your Soul Game, the game of life: How To Play It, and Why Play it. As I continue to guide you along the path of questioning what is, I now invite you to explore your Digital Soul. 

You may not have realized this, but every digital interaction you take forms a digital clone of you. Our digital clone – our "Digital Soul" – continues to become more and more significant as our lives intertwine further with the virtual world. But are these digital clones creating a detachment from our true selves? This is why we started this series with Soul alignment. We must first know our true selves, down to our Soul’s purpose, offline before we can manage ourselves online. What is your Digital Soul you ask?

The intangible, unseen self that interacts within digital spaces. This concept is an extension of digital identity and is influenced by prior experiences and perspectives. It encompasses the personal identity developed through digital interactions, reflecting how virtual engagements shape and define the digital version of oneself.

Your Digital Soul represents the essence of your online identity displayed in the digital world. It is created through what you interact with, how you behave, the content you create, information you share, and what you consume on digital platforms. Basically, the parts of yourself you leave throughout the virtual world. It is both what we openly present online and the subtle ways in which what we interact with influences and shapes our thoughts and behavior. Have you ever thought of this? How each interaction you have in the virtual world is essentially leaving a part of you behind, and the virtual world influencing the thoughts and behaviors of your actual self. Huh? Yes, the virtual world takes parts of you, and literally changes you. I hadn’t thought of this either until I became an influencer and went viral on Instagram while sharing every detail of my life and opening up an insider view into my life and my home.

The Digital Soul encompasses both the visible manifestations of ourselves online, such as Social Media profiles and digital footprints, and the more subtle effects on our thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, underscoring the interplay between our online actions and our real-world selves.

As we dive deeper into the technological age it is become essential to critically examine our roles as creators or consumers. Are we the creators of our digital presence or merely consumers of a digital reality crafted by others? What is the meaning of connection in a world saturated with Social Media platforms and everyone’s projection of their “best self”?

As we migrate from living in the real-world to living more and more online by the day, we must overstand how the tools that were once meant to assist and enhance our lives now risk dominating and shaping, not just our behaviors, but our very identities. It is time we question whether devices have become sources of division rather than unity. Is our Digital Soul a reflection of our real-life soul, or is it a separate entity taking on a life of it is own?

It is effortless to consume vast amounts of information, entertainment, and Social Media content. I encourage you to pause and ask yourself if this effortlessness, or passive consumption, is changing you for the better or changing you for the worse? What parts of yourself might you be losing to the digital void?

As we navigate the complexities of our existence within an omnipresent system overstanding our Digital Soul is not just philosophical–it is critical. This volume aims to explore these intersections and encourages you to reclaim the narrative of your digital self, and by extension, your very soul.
